DJ and DJ2 “Olympic Star”
In short
Locomotive and power heads developed by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works. The electric equipment is a Mitrac 3000, which is used on the Traxx family. It is built in GTO technology with water cooling, as the TRAXX F140AC1. Each traction motor is driven by its own converter. The continuous, and maximal, power rating is 4.8 MW. Each traction motor is rated at 1.225 MW. In commercial service since 2001. Four batches. First and third batch are full locomotives.

DJJ1 “Blue Arrow”

Second batch of 8 power heads. Train formation: power head – 5 cars – driving car. Power head and cars are both developments of the X2000 from ADtranz (former ASEA and now Bombardier): bogies and bodies. All 8 trains are currently running between Guangzhou and Shenzhen. In commercial service since 2002.

DJJ2 “China Star”
In short
Fourth batch of 2 power heads. Train formation: power head – 9 cars – power head. The look of the cars is quite similar to the German ICE1 or the Italian ETR500. This train holds the speed record in China: 321.5 km/h on the new Qinshen line. In commercial service between Shenyang and Shanhaiguan from August 2005, but in a first step limited to 160 km/h like the other high-speed trains. The commercial speed after pioneer service will be 270 km/h. This train is not yet produced in series.
